1:36 "China really commits itself to opening up, rather than closing down". Ok, if we say that is a true statement, then what happened in the past should also be true: When China made it more and more difficult to get a visa from around 2005-2022 it would be a sign that China is closing down, not opening up. So we should ask: Why did China do that back then? And why did they suddenly change now?

@taiwanstillisntacountry "So you P00R countries can do business with the PRC". If these countries are poor, why would China think it can benefit from doing business with them? Wouldn't it make more sense to give free visa access to rich countries?

@canthandlethetruth-dji Best answer so far, though we still need an answer for why they slowed it down before.

It can be based on bilateral agreements, but it doesn't have to. Granting visa free access is a way to boost your tourism industry.

I'm not French and I don't think Macron is aggressive or unbearable.

@GemsSupplier "Then you must be a billionaire or very misinformed." Or possibility #3: I have a different opinion about Macron that you do.

@taiwanstillisntacountry "So what is your country worth?" Doesn't matter. My country is not among the 6 listed.

@donnyd9453 No, my comment is about what China is really committed to: Opening up, closing down? It's a debate which has been going inside China's leadership for many decades, if not centuries. Should we open up and join the world at the risk of our own culture and system getting corrupted by foreign influence? Or should we close down to protect our culture and system at the risk of becoming isolated? This seems to be a central part of China's relationship with the outside world since the Han Dynasty.

@vicolew "Dont be so hype up on so many conspiracy theories". What part of my comment alluded to any conspiracy?
