@thomaszhang3101 "America caused the chip shortage in the first place when it sanctioned Chinese semiconductor industry and Huawei". That's wrong. Huawei does not fabricate chips. They design them, but don't fabricate them. The shortage is due to a cancellation of orders due to Covid-19 back in 2020. The backlog is all in the fabrication of chips, not in the design of chips.

Most auto manufacturers cancelled their chip orders because they worried that the lock-downs would mean lower sales for a long time. Once they changed their mind, it was too late. "America blocked everyone from selling high end chips to Huawei, effectively killing the company. " Yes, that is correct, but the chips made just went to other phone manufacturers, like Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, XiaoMi, etc., etc. So the total number of chips made for the phone industry didn't go down.

@thomaszhang3101 "companies that need chips are worried the US can sanction them next." Yes, that could happen, but I think not for several years. They might consider moving part of their production to S.E.A. to avoid sanctions. There are also many foreign companies in China worried about potential trouble up ahead. Few have moved, but many are making plans if things go wrong. As someone trying to do business in China, I am also worried.

@Nope991 " is fish and chips created by the British?" Hard to say for sure, but it is very much recognized world wide as THE quintessential British food. Same with 'Afternoon Tea'. We know tea originally is from China, but the concept of 'Afternoon Tea' is associated with Great Britain.
