  1. Perhaps a bird strike? Though, if it happened mid-flight, the aircraft would have been 10,000 meters up and I don't think there are any birds up that high. It'll be interesting to learn what happened with the engine. Btw, modern passenger aircraft can easily fly with just one engine, so no need to panic.

  2. Turbulence doesn't cause the turbine intake blades to break. Had to have been something else.
