  1. Every Chinese tourist who went missing in Thailand volunteered to go to Myanmar for 'a job'. I traveled here from Shanghai. I've been here 4 weeks so far, never felt in any kind of danger. Just don't accept strangers' offer of high-paying jobs in Myanmar. It's that simple.

  2.  @雪花冰玉-xuehuabingyu  "They were told to go to Thailand". By who? They should have kept their passport safe. They should not get into a strange car. This kind of thing just doesn't happen to tourists.

  5.  @雪花冰玉-xuehuabingyu  Yes, some Thai police probably facilitate the border crossing, but tourists shouldn't get near the Myanmar border in the first place. These tourists volunteered to get into the car and go to 'the job site'.

  6.  @clarkesmith.  That is unrelated to language. Much of America's economy is controlled by people of German, Italian, Russian, etc. descent. That doesn't mean their ancestors' language has any more importance.

  8. Almost all the people being 'trafficked' are being cheated by other Chinese people in Thailand, not by Thai citizens. It's Chinese 'butchering' Chinese.

  9.  @雪花冰玉-xuehuabingyu  Ok, but primarily Chinese preying on Chinese. All those pig-butchering scams are so common in China. I get calls almost every day in Shanghai, although most of those seem to be loan scams.

Yes, Thai politicians are now suggesting ending visa-free access for Chinese citizens, because they end up ruining Thailand's reputation with other Chinese people. It's a problem that is largely caused by China's economic stagnation.
