  1. 12 million students are expected to take the GaoKao. There are a total of around 15 million people aged 18 in the country (14 mill aged 19), so around 80% of all 18-year-olds are attempting to enter college. There are around 7-9 million openings for freshmen. It's great that so many Chinese kids want to further their education, but I fear that many of the college graduates will end up as delivery people or shop assistants. Life is not easy for young Chinese people.
