I love archaeology and China has a lot of excellent sites. Unfortunately, there has mostly been a focus on emperors, their tombs and the treasures within them. I would like the focus to shift toward a better understanding of Chinese society during these periods, including the economy, administration, lifestyles, etc. to get a clearer understanding of history and society outside of kings and emperors.

@aodr9356 Those books are important, but as I wrote, I am interested in what archeology can tell us about social development, and then perhaps, compare it to those two books. I am less interested in the written history.

@freakmoister Literature only goes back to a certain point. Before that, we have to rely on found objects. That should be easy to understand.

@freakmoister Even during times of recorded history, archeology can give us answers to help us understand those periods more fully. After all, recorded history only present one viewpoint of the times.
