Winning an election in Thailand by no means guarantees the right to form a government. The Thai Army controls and appoints 1/3 of all seats in parliament. That 1/3 cannot be voted out. This gives the army a lot of completely un-earned political power and they can relatively easily form a government with only their own 1/3 + just 25% of the votes cast. So that basically means that the army only needs 25% to win, while civilian society needs 75% to win. It's completely unfair!

@limk8994 "The army maintained peace and stability". There was peace and stability before the military coup. The coup happened for purely political reasons. The Army leadership didn't like what the elected government was doing, so they overthrew the government. Idiots who decry 'western democracy' seem to have no problem with other western political ideas like Marxism, socialism or communism. Even 'political parties' is an entirely western concept that didn't exist anywhere else in the world, but is imported whole cloth from the west. If you hate western ideas so much, you would be best served to advocate for a return to feudalist monarchies and warlords.

And who put this ridiculous system in place? The army itself, after a military coup!
