I highly doubt this will make a come-back, other than as a curiosity. It's fun to try old recipes, like that channel Tasting History, but rarely do old customs regain their popularity.

@alvindurochermtl But this is not Japan, it's Hong Kong. Likewise, Chinese customs are unlikely to become popular in other parts of the world.

@alvindurochermtl Well, I suppose it can. Think of coffee culture which is all over China now (I prefer M-Stand). And hotpot has completely taken over China, though that was Chinese to begin with. But tea ceremony is slow and I don't think young Chinese have the time to spend on that just for a cup of tea, when you can go to 'Happy Cup' and get a fruity beverage in a minute. I just don't see it happening.

@alvindurochermtl That's true, I don't have a clue. Despite knowing HK people and having been to HK many, many times, I've never heard people say they're into matcha (except matcha ice-cream, matcha cake, matcha-everything, except tea). But perhaps you can enlighten me about the popularity of Matcha in HK?
