  1. Frankly speaking, after several decades in China, I feel the name of the game on Chinese roads is still 'intimidation'. If you come in a large semi trailer truck, you expect all others to yield for you, no matter who they are. Cars yield to large trucks and buses, motorcycles yield to cars, bicycles yield to motorcycles, and pedestrians yield to everyone. It is my experience that drivers will try to move forward in a pedestrian crossing in order to scare pedestrians. That is just the culture here. Rules don't matter, only power matters. In that sense, Chinese people are 'realists' (following the Realism School that is made so famous by John Mearsheimer).
