A heroic effort! These Sherpas are amazing.

@Julio Duan: Where did you get this information? I am highly skeptical of the claim that any Sherpa would simply abandon a client to die in the most dangerous part of the climb. I know you can't post links here, but a reference to a source would be nice, thanks.

@Julio Duan: I looked up your claims on Baidu (百度), Xinhua News (新华社), Sina (新浪), but could not find anything like your story.

@mm-dd-yyyy Thank you for that info. It looks like this could be two separate incidents. The Malaysian climber was male and has since been flown back to Malaysia. The other climber in distress, as you mention, is female, Chinese from Hunan. Additionally, the Hunan woman, Fan Jiangtao and Xie Ruxiang (also Hunanese) were all climbing from the Chinese side, while the Malaysian was climbing from the Nepalese side of the mountain. Whatever the case, people who help others in need should always be praised. These are all heroes.

@mm-dd-yyyy The China Daily article has a photo with the caption "A selfie of Fan Jiangtao and Xie Ruxiang of the Hunan mountaineering team at Mount Qomolangma in Southwest China's Tibet autonomous region". I interpret this to mean they're sitting in a camp on the Tibet side (North face) of the mountain. If they ascend from the north, they also descend to the north. Well, anyway, who knows what is what? The main thing is that the Hunan woman/Malaysian man was rescued, and several climbers and guides/assistants made a huge effort to help out. Hats off to all of them.

@manfunny917 The latest story from SCMP is that Ms. Liu don't want to pay the Sherpa who rescued her. As for thanking people, do we even know if Mr. Ravichandran or Ms. Liu were conscious when they were rescued?

@amiithan4992 "you mean both of them walked down to the base camp in delirium and unconscious?" I didn't write that anywhere, nor do I believe that, and I don't know why you would come to that conclusion. What we know now with certainty is that these are two different events, with two different people being rescued, by different Sherpas. We also know that both events happened on the Nepal side, not the Chinese side. Apart from that, there are still some unknowns.
