  1. A correction: 0:42 "A controlled ventilation. And that detonated the train and the track with explosives, and it created a gigantic explosion that filled the town with debris". That is not what happened. Several of the rail cars were at risk of getting overheated and exploding. It was decided to conduct a 'controlled release' (or ventilation, but not an explosion), whereby the rail cars in question were opened and the vinyl chloride was allowed to run into a ditch that had been pre-dug for the purpose. The vinyl chloride was then deliberately set alight. This created a gigantic cloud of smoke, video and pictures of which is available everywhere. Why they burned it instead of some other action, I don't know, but there was no explosion, per se, but instead a fire. Nor was there debris flying all over town. There were 5 rail cars emptied of their content. Had they not done this, it was estimated that there was a risk of an actual explosion which could have sent lots of debris all over town. It was to prevent this from happening that they decided to release the chemicals.
