@joeeigo9820 Good point. So I guess I have to go to the Mediterranean region to get the good stuff.

Your diet consists of sunflower seeds and hard grains?
3
@rylandrc Is poor personal hygiene a problem where you live? Where is it a problem?
3
@FilmscoreMetaler You could even say that by giving away their excess soap, those big hotels are washing their hands.....(sorry, I'll show myself out)
3
@platoquemado "I just had a family member get sick with typhoid". Did your family member not have access to soap, or did the person just choose not to use it? Also, is it possible your family member got infected in another way, for example by eating or drinking contaminated food? That is the most common way to get infected.
3
@RealMTBAddict Nobody has to, but some people are daredevils.
3
Don't feel sorry. Having lived and traveled in developing countries for decades I know that the people there have no use for your pity. If you express your pity to them, they'll just want you go to somewhere else. If pity was a tradeable good, they might feel different about it. What those people would like much more is for you to visit and buy some of what they sell.
3
@ElysetheEevee I think @aaroniouse was trying to be sarcastic and snarky at the same time. It's hard to say for certain.
3
Or you can eat spinach, which has twice as much iron as sugar cane juice for the same amount. In my understanding, spinach is a very commonly grown vegetable in India and should be easy to find.
3
"People don't part with their hair unless they need money, or they do it for religious reasons". I'm pretty sure most people part with their hair because they want to change their hairstyle, or they just need a haircut.
3
It's not even close to the same flavor. Anyone who tries both kinds can immediately pick out the real vanilla.
3
@josemiguelmunoz6985 Ok, so only about half the yield you'd get from ripe, black olives.
2
@The123dannyd "Never cook with olive oil". And yet, I do it all the time. Delicious!
2
Can't they just grow more quinoa?
2
I hope some of those Thai workers can also cook so everybody on the farm may eat some delicious Thai home cooking.
2
@WillBill6143 If I get the chance, I'll certainly check them out. I'm always happy to try something new.
2
@turbokid99 I don't think there's any evidence for your claims.
2
@LTCloud9 Haha, so true.
2
@SuM of NoN That's how many people in developing countries make their living: By running small mum-and-pop businesses. You don't have to care about them, but they want to make a living.
2
@SuM of NoN "All you need to live is food, water and shelter. Nature already provides all of that". Ok, without necessarily telling which country you're from, can you at least tell me what kind of society you live in? From the way you describe 'living', it sounds like you live out in nature. But somehow you still have access to the internet.
2
@zeineb8870 Yeah, if the recycled soap was all distributed in the same city as the hotel, that would be more sensible.
2
@RealMTBAddict Well, if you have to, extreme moderation.
2
@RealMTBAddict I have no arguments in favour of eating poison and I wouldn't personally do it.
2
@aaroniouse I haven't tried. How do you kill them, and why is it fun?
2
@yivunqp963 But I think that's a lot harder to do when you live in a small village far from the big city.
2
@ItsAsparageese No problem. When I was a kid in the 70s, I was told by my mom that our detergent was especially good because there were enzymes in it. I didn't know what they were, but I remember being told.
2
Mango leather? Sounds like an uphill battle to me. But who knows, maybe they'll succeed.
1
@vsharmishtha16 Unless someone else finds a cheaper way to make 'vegan leather' from other vegetables/fruits.
1
...and that includes the farmers themselves.
1
You can travel to Madagascar and buy it for cheap but that will probably cost you more than $400. Or you can travel to Madagascar and start a 'Direct To Consumer' business shipping the vanilla by FedEx. Also not cheap.

@josemiguelmunoz6985 Thanks, very informative.

10:47 "The global rise in fame of Panela, as a healthy alternative to sugar". Whoa, whoa, whoa, where did that come from? What is the evidence that Panela is more healthy? It's still sugar, just with more fiber and impurities in it. Does that mean that I can buy some plain, white sugar, drizzle a bit of fiber and dust over it, and it becomes more healthy?
1
@hanspecans Are you referring to any specific comment? And if my comment is incorrect, what is the correct answer?

If The Line is designed to solve some problems of current cities, then designing it as one long line isn't going to solve traffic. There will be a lot more traffic jams when everybody is located along the same line.
1
@Planet_Xplorer It's good you put 'western' in brackets, because the only country that has colonized Egypt in modern history is The Ottoman Empire. But even so, labor movements can exist independently of the form of government in the country.
1
@abdullahaleiti8024 Not only the biggest, but also the best.
1
@abdullahaleiti8024 The best at colonizing. Practically the whole world was colonized by either the Portuguese, the Spanish, the British, the French or the Dutch.

I buy pine nuts at the wet market (vegetable market) here in Shanghai at USD 23/pound. Fortunately, you don't need at lot to make your own pesto.
1
@negusnutrino8863 I didn't mention any studies. I wrote that even without any studies, we now have clear evidence that massively increased mobile phone use has had no effect on our physical health.
1
@CrankSick "ChatGPT search states". Not sure where ChatGPT got this info, but here is from the American Cancer Society: "incidence rates for malignant brain and other central nervous system (CNS) tumors declined by 0.8% annually during 2008 through 2017 in the United States for all ages combined. The decline was driven by trends in adults, whereas rates have slightly increased by 0.5% to 0.7% annually among children and adolescents over the same time period." Granted, this is only for an 11 year period, but even so. This is not a scientific study, but just collection of data on brain cancer from hospitals and doctors around the country, ie. Real world historical data, not a study.
1
@rochester212 I haven't looked into that and I am not your teacher. Google is free for you to use, and you can do your own research there. If you find that the rate of other types of cancer have seen a significant increase over the last two decades, feel free to share your findings here, and make sure to present your arguments for how that is related to mobile phone usage, rather than diet, lifestyle or other causes. But don't come asking me 'what about this'? 'What about that'? Don't be lazy! Do your own research!
1
@CuriousCrow-mp4cx "We're talking about corporations gifting us for profit." You may be, but that is not what this thread is about. Feel free to start a thread about your favorite topic.
1
@BigSnipp "Who is 'they'?" The kind of people who always worry about everything.
1
@BigSnipp I just told you.
1
@BigSnipp I don't know the names of those people, but there are so many of them, I'm some some of them are named James, or Frank, or Lilian, or Jessica.
1
Most commenters here: "It's an outrage that the farmers don't get all the profit. All the people standing between the farmer and your kitchen shouldn't be paid a dime".

What it takes to survive THE PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN: -Day 32: The first debates. Here, candidates have to answer gotcha questions from the press and try to burn other candidates with political or moral zingers. -Day 59: The rally. The candidates each hold rallies where they try to drive their supporters into a frenzy. -Day 123: The Iowa Caucus. Here, the losers hold speeches pretending that they're really the winners. Etc, etc...

@TBasianeyes White asparagus in China? I've never seen that. Green ones, yes, but no white asparagus.
1
@cosi4683 Yes, I know that, but I have not seen any white asparagus for sale in China.
