I don't see a single hate comment under this video. Is that then proof that you're going in the wrong direction? Or is it the case that any comment, loving or hateful or even indifferent, is proof of the right direction?

I think the EU fully expects some form of retaliation from China, but retaliation in the auto industry probably won't make much of a difference, since almost all western brands sold in China are also made in China, with the Chinese government as business partners. More likely, we will see high tariffs on agricultural products, incl. meat, wine, dairy products. This will be a challenge for the EU because China is a big market for us, and it is not easily replaceable with another market. We'll have to get through it, and there are a lot more workers in the auto industry than in the agricultural industry.

It is probably best for us EU countries to pare down Russian diplomatic representations in Europe to skeleton levels, with just an embassy in the capitals manned by a few basic staff. Then, some time in the future, if the relationship improves, we can scale up gain. But for now, let's get rid of as many Russian diplomatic staff as possible.

I think Foreign Minister Jaishankar sounded much more reasonable and measured during this event. Some other times, he has sounded quite assertive, even aggressive when discussing India's relationships with other countries.

I think Europeans in general have largely moved beyond pomp and flash and being called 'your excellence' and so on. Just the fact that you may see European leaders cycling around town on a bicycle should be a signal that we don't care too much about protocol or being treated like nobility. I'm glad those days are over.
