  7. I don't see the problem with this particular use. Whether they use an AI person or a real person or just a voice over some stock footage, the important bits are in the message that is being conveyed. Doesn't matter if it's Mickey Mouse or Anderson Cooper who narrates the message.

  11. This is a wonderful report, but it is not clear "what shocked the CNN reporter". I suppose the title is just meant as clickbait. Certainly, the reporter is not shocked by being followed by government minders, as this is standard throughout China. I first visited a Dong (the ethnic group) village in 1991. Very charming and picturesque. Looks like not much has changed in those villages in the last 30 years.

Currently, SpaceX is the only American launch company that can reliably send satellites into orbit. The value of the defense contract is USD 734 million, about 0.1% of the US defense budget. SpaceX makes a lot more money from cooperating with NASA, but NASA is a civilian agency, not a defense agency.

  18. This news story would have been more informative if they also had footage from other luxury hotel properties in the capital to compare occupancy. It's an open question whether this downturn is exclusively or primarily affecting Trump properties. Worth following up on in the months to come. There will certainly be people who would never set their foot in a Trump hotel, but most business people tend to be rather pragmatic, not ideological.

  19.  @HakaiMegalos  Yes, so disturbing, and hurtful. But the news piece says that the FBI is looking into this. For what purpose? If sending these texts is not illegal, why investigate? For what it's worth, I'm guessing, and it's just a guess, that these texts were sent by young trolls, or shit posters, as they sometimes refer to themselves as, to get the reaction we see now. And then they sit at home, laughing, thinking 'haha, I can't believe I did such a crazy thing'.
