@sirseigan speaking of paying, it should also be mentioned that the trade deficit actualy means the US gets goods and services for pieces of paper. So why would other economies continue to agree to this, if not in exchange for security guarantees?

@alternativetierheilpraxisc7936 as a East German i know how disapointing it is to sit on a pile of worthless paper money from a failed hegemon. Like the GDRs surplus of Rubels in 91, or everyones Dollar reserves in 73, let alone Frances Reichsmark in 45. And come to think of it, Saudi Arabia is allready accepting other currencies then the Dollar for Oil, China is stockpiling Gold like crazy...

If Hegseth had put some realism into this matter, he would have noticed that Europe being abandon... sorry i mean "taking the lead" also means that Europe has little incentive (and less capability) to help the US against (mainland) China. And the PRCs recent vote against Russia in the UN looks as if Xi noticed the gift Trump just handed him.
