  2. I asume they either expected the vdv to decapitate Ukraine (thus eliminating organised resistance), or seriously expected a repeat of the easy takeover from 2014 (the soviet union grossly underestimated Afghanistan and Finnland after all).

  3. Disorganisation, disunity and rivalry are an integral part of russias military structure. This way the Kremlin can keep controle over everyone. Just try to see this from Putins perspective: whats worse, loosing thousands of Muschniks ore loosing the Tsar?
