I taught for 25 years, retiring in 2021. I can say, from experience, behaviour was deteriorating year on year. Too many woke/snowflake types, 'defending' poor behaviour, and making excuses for it.

@WotsisFace 'It’s because of evolution. Kids are smarter than we were, and harder to fool. And more resistant to dictation.' It has absolutely nothing to do with 'evolution', being 'smarter', harder to 'fool' or being 'dictated' too. It's simply an erosion of, doing as they are told, having respect and following simple rules. 'Not harsher punishments', which may I add, are easily avoided, by following basic/sensible rules.

@WotsisFace 'and an education that fits their needs.' I don't think that's even been disputed? 'There is too much time wasted on aspects that they will not use in their life.' Please give examples. Whilst I was teaching, we maintained the philosophy that every student, should be encouraged to the best version of themselves, possible. When I was at school, we respected our teachers. It wasn't we shouldn't question authority, but we should do it respectfully.

@Rtt-d5m In education, I have a 'polar' opposite experience. Spelling ALWAYS matters.
