@PerceivedREALITY999 Let this sink into your head: Russia signed the NATO-Russia Founding Act. In this, Russia pledged not to threaten or use force against NATO Allies and any other state. It has BROKEN this commitment, with the ILLEGAL and illegitimate annexation of Crimea, the territory of a sovereign state. Russia also continues to support militants in eastern Ukraine. As a pro-Putin supporter, I bet you'll make a whole host of excuses for this behaviour!

The world was at the height of the 'Cold War', 'we' were at the precipice of nuclear Armageddon. There had been peace in Europe, until that peace was shattered and the possibility of nuclear confrontation heightened, by Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine. Khrushchev's fall from power, only two years after the crisis, was in part because of the Soviet Politburo's embarrassment at both Khrushchev's eventual concessions to the US and his complete ineptitude in precipitating the crisis in the first place! According to Dobrynin, the top Soviet leadership took the Cuban outcome as 'A blow to it's prestige bordering on humiliation'. Even the Russians themselves, regarded the placing of nuclear weapons in Cuba, as a mistake!
