  1. Politicians should not invest. It is a prima facie conflict of interest. "If the only way you can get people into office is with generous checks from the wealthy, and that truly is the only reliable way to do it..." then what you have is a capitalist dictatorship, not a democracy! And guess what, there is no way to fix this, because every such fix would require a reduction in corporate profits, and if you even threaten a corporation's profits, it will set its gunsights on you, and it will ruthlessly exterminate you, by putting you into extreme poverty at best, and at worst putting you to death. If you live in a capitalist dictatorship, and you are not of the capital class, then you are outright fucked.
