@TheHephaestus05 It's really hard to find out what the mean average number of shots a civilian needs to resolve a self-defense situation. There's a lack of data, and what data there is is confusing, unreliable etc. You get all sorts of problems, like only lethal confrontations being recorded, so if a civilian fires 1 shot, it's not fatal but it resolves the situation, it wasn't recorded.
That said it seems like in the typical home defense scenario needing to fire more than 4 rounds isn't very likely, and in situations where 5, 6, 7, 8 rounds were fired some of them may have been legally questionable (assailant fleeing, etc.)
I'd feel fine with a revolver for home defense. If 6 rounds is enough, then the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. No need to worry about magazine compression, no need to worry you'll leave the safety on 'cause you got shit in your shorts, etc.
