Before the ... Special Military Operation ... the UK bought about 6% of its gas from Russia. That's nothing, and it was easy to find another supplier, but our government still used "sanctions against Russia causing increased wholesale prices" as it's excuse for allowing energy companies to double their prices last year... It's just naked profiteering on the part of energy suppliers, and the result has been people have rationed their energy usage... which, in many cases, has caused energy suppliers to spuriously investigate their customers for fraud ! God, I hate energy companies so much.
