@FloofersFX Hey, even in the Balkans people can make things happen. Slobo got kicked out of office by protestors after all. Of course now Serbia is back in the shit. It's hard to keep hoping but it's better than totally giving up, right? I get why young people leave the Balkans - shit economy, corruption everywhere - but young people are the ones who make change happen. I wouldn't blame you if you left for Germany or something, but somebody's gotta fix the mess.

@FloofersFX Join an organisation that fights for positive change like Liberty (a human rights org in the UK) which has spent a lot of time and money fighting against the Policing Bill (an anti-protest law that is very similar to the anti-protest laws in Russia). You are not powerless. If you choose to do nothing you have made a choice to deny what little power you have. If you're happy with that choice then fine, but don't lie to yourself and say "there's nothing I can do". You can do something, even if it's only a little, and that's better than nothing.

@bladerunner4425 People get the governments they deserve. It's about more than just voting. If your government is being a POS being a good citizen means holding them to account however you can. This applies to the "Western" world as equally as it applies to Russia, Venezuela etc. Things are steadily going to shit here and most people continue to do nothing useful about it. I understand why - fear of being persecuted for speaking out, learned helplessness, etc. But if enough people actually do something then governments, even dictatorial governments, are in the shit. It's just a shame that real movements for change don't get any traction until the country is in an inescapable death spiral.

@FloofersFX Tbh there's plenty of corruption in Western Europe too, it's just hidden better. Remember Boris Johnson? He gave a massive post-Brexit contract for running ferries to Europe to a company that didn't own a single ferry and had no experience. This company was run by his friend...
