@spagussy Modern society sure is self-centred. People like to act like we're all enlightened and caring now but most people only care about looking like they're "good people" and don't actually care about anyone but themselves. IMO social media is a big part of it. People live their lives like everybody's watching, so they spend all their time trying to look good and never learn how to actually BE good.

@randomtinypotatocried Everything the modern American Right hate is a result of their own policy. Stagnant wages and spiraling housing costs mean the old nuclear family idea (man works, woman keeps the children and the home) is economically impossible. Both parents have to work to pay the bills. Couples avoid having children because they can't afford to or don't feel they have the time or energy to raise children. "America First?" The Republicans were the party of war hawks pushing for regime change anywhere and everywhere, leading to the development of a military-industrial complex they can no longer control. Refusing to regulate corporations lead to mass immigration (so corporations can take advantage of cheap labor) and the development of consumer culture, which has replaced the old-fashioned Christian morality they claim to want. If only they were self-aware enough to realize that they built the economy this way! The social norms they hate aren't going to change until the economic system does.

Kanye's issues go beyond just "struggling with mental health". Depression and anxiety are serious issues, but Kanye's issues go way beyond depression and anxiety. Kanye is a paranoid schizophrenic. Being famous has a way of driving people with mental health issues over the edge into straight-up breakdown. Think about what fame did to Kurt Cobain's mental state. Kanye West was spiraling, losing his grip on reality, but then his grandmother died and he completely lost it. Kanye is a runaway train headed for a broken bridge. He needs help urgently but instead he's a treated as a laughing stock and a circus freak. Chris-chan and Terry Davis needed help too but instead they became internet jokes, their abrasive and delusional behavior giving people an excuse to beat them down and feel proud of themselves for it. Chris-chan got arrested and Terry Davis was hit by a train and killed (very likely a suicide). I wouldn't be surprised if Kanye ends up institutionalized or dead within the next few years.

@Ukraineaissance2014 You read mlalbaitero's comment wrong. He wasn't saying everyone with mental health issues was a paedophile, he was saying that paedophilia is a mental illness (which is true) and that Kanye's extreme political views are less damaging than paedophilia (which is also true). The point was cut Kanye some slack. He's just making an idiot of himself and not actually hurting anyone (hurting their feelings maybe, but so what?). If we want to witch-hunt anyone it should be the rich and powerful people who vacationed on Epstein Island.

@mmmmmmmmdaaaamnnnnbabyyyy I don't think people should face criminal charges for having opinions the majority disagree with, even if they are extreme. Once you start criminalising people for saying shocking or mean things you are on the road to dictatorship. Remember, laws are written by politicians and enforced by cops. You can't trust them to be fair and balanced in applying "hate speech" laws. They'll get used disproportionately to target people the government doesn't like. If you mean celebs that DUI or assault people should go to jail like the rest of us then hell yeah they should but we all know there is no country on Earth where the rich and powerful play by the same rules as us plebs.
