@jonstfrancis Come on, man... not everything can be manufactured in the same country. For example, the emitters required for high-quality optical sights can only be manufactured in Germany. Most semiconductors are made in Taiwan. Etc. Modern manufacturing is highly specialized. You cannot just open a giant-acrylic-glass-factory; the time and money investment required to do such a thing is just too much. Your comment tells me you really don't know much about manufacturing... it's just knee-jerk anti-American prejudice.

@Letthembelightpeaceonelove Also there is a utilitarian reason people get on buses. It's to get to work, go shopping, whatever. They're essential. Aquariums only exist so we can gawk at them. They are not essential. And I say this as a guy that loves visiting aquariums.

@JP_TaVeryMuch German privacy laws. Because the hotel rooms faced the aquarium, any camera recording the aquarium would also be recording the inside of someone's hotel room - and that's illegal.

If you've ever seen a stress fracture, you know it can result in glass-like material completely shattering all across its surface. If the integrity of part of a glass-like structure is compromised the whole thing can fall to pieces.
