Brandon is a huge bajur fan and invited him to a shoot Need collabs urgently

@cas curse My understanding is the M16's feed issues were caused by poor-quality ammo and lack of cleaning kits issued (both genius decisions of the Army Ordnance Board). The actual rifle was always fine.
21
@thatcherfreeman It obviously doesn't make sense but that's because the real reason for it is hidden. The real reason is to squeeze guntubers off the platform because YT wants to get rid of "politically suspect" creators.
19
@devintaylor8608 A lot of Army bureaucrats hated the M16 and wanted it to fail (imagine how radical a polymer rifle with a non-reciprocating charging handle and a light, high-velocity cartridge seemed in the early 60s). They preferred the M14 with it's traditional design and wanted to "prove" the M16 was a bad design by forcing it to fail. And yes, soldiers definitely died because of the prejudices of old men in suits. That's government for you.

How much money is YouTube getting from Blackrock, I wonder?
15
@wishuhadmyname The Viet officer probably acquired it from a French officer who... had no further use for it. That sidearm has a hell of a story to tell
12
War. Huh! Yeah! What is it good for? Absolutely nothin' (say it again, y'all)!
11
@thedude4840 I've never understood the subset of libertarian "don't tread on me" folks that are also pro-police. I think it's as simple (and dumb) as "liberals say police are racist so I love the police."
11
I'm gonna buy a forty, a Cuban cigar and an MP5SD clone

Me too. I expected the higher-velocity 5.56 round to penetrate better than 7.62 WP. Maybe the 5.56 round fragmented or deflected? Without seeing the fired bullet we can't know.
8
@ericbaker8781 Fantastic, you say? Funny you should say that. Fantastic is the guy responsible for the quote. He's the know-nothing NPC from the FNV question "That Lucky Old Sun". "Hey man, I know EXACTLY what I'm doing! I just don't know what effect it's gonna have."
7
@LastGoatKnight That the one where he had a heart attack and his personal guard were too terrified to enter his room and check on him?
6
@CommitPesticideWorldwide But, uh, see I had a .45, you know that gun won two World Wars. Well uh the thing about the Second World War is, you know Jack, war is like when, uh... and that's how it was back then.
5
The Luger was THE semi-automatic pistol of its era until the 1911 came along Ergonomic grip angle, powerful cartridge, push-button mag release - nothing else could compare.
5
@wlingerfeldt9430 It's an Eastern Bloc thing, the Russian word for a tank operator is "tankista". Sometimes the Soviet words for stuff have a direct equivalent in English but we don't actually use that word normally - like the Soviet Union calling astronauts cosmonauts instead.
5
@user-yy4ux9zf4r Could always go with "an adult human who was born with female reproductive organs".
4
@biekgiek No, "feminine" is the social construct. "Woman" is biological. If you eliminate the biological component of the definition of "woman", then anyone who claims to be a woman is. This is meaningless. Alternatively, you have to define "woman" as being "anyone that acts like a woman", which reduces the meaning of "woman" to stereotypes. You keep confusing sex, gender and sexuality. I don't think you should be telling people how to use words, personally. Now that I've got the measure of you I don't see any need to keep going, so I'll cut it off here and keep things civil.
4
@AndyDrake-FOOKYT If only there was a way to choke off that revenue stream by preventing the ads from loading!
4
@Aughtel Yeah, $8/month. I'm considering subscribing but I might give it a few months and see how it's going first. It's a good idea and I hope it works out.
4
@Millzspec Jesus what?? I don't eat that shit (I'm not a fatty) but there was human meat in the McNuggies??
4
@AB0BA_69 It wasn't the rifle's fault, the ammunition he was shooting was way over-pressure - something like 3x the SAAMI specs for .50 BMG.
4
@niveleur My source is I made it the fuck up. What now, Poindexter?
3
@ericbaker8781 Guess I had a 'tism moment
3
The burst cam shits up the trigger pull, too. Adds a weird inconsistency to it.
3
3 is kinda the worst number for a burst. Eugene Stoner agreed with this assessment. He said round 1 and 2 were on target, 3 missed, and by 4 the operator could walk it back on target.
3
@michaelbaker8284 Apparently, you were expected to shoot precision rifles of the late 19th century supine. Just imagining that makes my neck hurt.
3
@DarkShroom I can't link URLs in YouTube comments, but google "M16 US army ordnance sabotage" and you'll find plenty of sources.
3
Add a picatinny rail to it and it's good to go.
3
@nadrewod999 Weird how the weapon models in FO3 were mostly decent but FO4's are hot trash. The Assault Rifle in FO3 was basically a CETME/early model G3, but chambered in 5.56 (does that make it an alternate-universe HK33?).
3
@Mindpron I've never heard this before and cannot verify it by searching, so I'm calling bullshit. (Anyway all bullets are gonna have rifling on them after they've been fired... because the bullet interacts with the rifling and ends up imprinted. It's how you get a ballistic match between a bullet and a firearm.)
3
@DoingTheBestICan I'm a huge fan of the "space age" rifles that combined forward-thinking design principles with traditional materials. The Enfield EM-2 is sexy as hell too
2
@RubyRedPhoenix413 Yeah, but if he votes Dem then he's voting for gun control. That might not be why he's voting Dem, but the end result is that he is supporting gun control. Don't judge people by what they say - judge people by what they DO.
2
@Jackfirecracker If you vote Dem you are voting for gun control. It doesn't matter what you say, it matters what you DO, and voting Dem is anti-2A. Talk all the theory you want but the parties are what they are and that's not changing any time soon. If you "believe in 2A" but vote Dem... you do not really believe in 2A.
2
@Aughtel I don't blame them for wanting to make a living out of it, but yeah, I need to think about whether it's worth that to me or not.
2
@MrShinydude A lot of people have tried but nothing's stuck so far. Competing directly with YouTube is a losing bet so you'd have to occupy some niche that YouTube can't fill. Pepperbox at least has a chance but I'm gonna wait a few months and see how it develops before I pay $8/month for it.
2
@RoflcopterLamo Starbucks. There, I did it!
2
@frostylapine Clearly what we need is a system of licensing and registration for hand tools! Add a tax stamp to that so Uncle Sam can get his due. Better make sure we randomly designate certain features of hand tools as prohibited as well. Can't have citizens owning semi-automatic assault power drills, can we?
2
@TheSulross The M1 Carbine is semi-auto, so doesn't count. The M2 Carbine absolutely should count, though. .30 Carbine is pretty comparable to .357 Mag, the most powerful pistol cartridge at the time.
2
@dickiewongtk Cars can be used to kill people, but that doesn't mean cars are deadly weapons. The vast majority of firearms owners will never use them in anger. If a rifle is only used to shoot paper targets for sport, is it a "killing tool"?
2
@KickRiZZle I don't think that's the same thing cause slasher films are intentionally goofy, stylized and unreal whereas guntube and the gun rights debate are grounded in the real world. Also, no one is pro serial killer except serial killers so that's a bit of a tortured analogy. I mean it's your life and you do whatever you want, I just perceive an incongruence in your beliefs versus the content you consume. If you don't care about that then that's a valid position to take. Shit, I'm against animal exploitation but I eat meat because I like it. I could sit here and justify it to you but what would be the point?
2
@KickRiZZle Yeah, I've long been of the opinion that Americans are ill-informed on European healthcare and Europeans are ill-informed on American gun rights and culture. In any case you've at least thought about the issue, reasoned your way around it and decided you're happy where you are. We're all a little bit hypocritical (or, to be less judgmental, incongruent) sometimes - I definitely am. So thanks for hearing me out and have a good day!
2
@mortiarty7842 Kinda wild how ahead of their time the 6.5mm Swedish, 6.5mm Carcano etc. were, huh
2
C'mon, c'mon, c'mon baby now - come on and *work it on out*

Raccoon Social contact theory is a meme. Contracts require the assent of all contracting parties. You aren't allowed to decline the "social contract". Once upon a time, governments claimed they exercised power by the grace of God, then the Enlightenment happened and that excuse stopped working. A new excuse was needed. Social contract theory is just the latest in a long line of lies governments tell the people to hide the ugly truth. Governments stay in power because of their monopoly on violence, nothing more, nothing less.

Ma Deuce

@Coltdawg2 If that isn't proof that this rule is designed to push out "politically suspect" content creators then what is? It's no secret that Guntube skews right-wing and (duh) pro-2A, which our corporate overlords really hate
1
@iowasucks9494 I think an NPC, maybe one of the Gun Runners, explicitly says they supply the NCR. I wonder if anyone in the NCR has designs on forcibly nationalizing the Gun Runners. Maybe they aren't doing something like that because they don't want to disrupt supply or alienate other important industrial concerns.
1
@smithsonian2464 That's some historically appropriate bling, got damn. Confederate officer level drip
1
Why do you think it's dangerous to the user? From what I heard it's an overbuilt design, only weaker part is the firing pin and the Yugo variant solves that.
1
@biekgiek No need. Merriam-Webster's got you covered. But for the hell of it: Adult: someone who has reached the legal age of majority. Human: homo sapiens Female: born with female reproductive organs. No, before you try and bring it up, infertility doesn't make you "not a woman", I didn't say FUNCTIONING organs. And intersex people are intersex, they're an anomaly. They're neither male or female.
