  1.  Raccoon  Social contact theory is a meme. Contracts require the assent of all contracting parties. You aren't allowed to decline the "social contract". Once upon a time, governments claimed they exercised power by the grace of God, then the Enlightenment happened and that excuse stopped working. A new excuse was needed. Social contract theory is just the latest in a long line of lies governments tell the people to hide the ugly truth. Governments stay in power because of their monopoly on violence, nothing more, nothing less.

  2.  Raccoon  You need it to be shorter? Governments aren't in power because the people wish them to be. They're in power because the police and the military keep them there. Governments are inherently coercive entities. Maybe you think you're getting a good deal, maybe not - but you didn't get a choice in the matter.
