@lizardbashkins9042 Tbh owning it would probably get her a lot more respect Turn it into an opportunity to talk about your body image insecurities and the press will call it brave and necessary

@lightworker2956 That's true. In the same way, a lot of actresses have had work done that men do find attractive, because it's unobtrusive and subtle. Anne Hathaway has had a lot of work done, but it's been done well and a lot of people won't even realize. I definitely think we need to find a way to educate the general public so they understand just how difficult it is - and understand the costs associated with - chasing that idealized image.

@dcworld4349 You're right, a lot of people underestimate how much effort you need to put in to achieve the ideal look. I've been "seriously" working out for 6 months now and progress has been noticeable, but slow. I'm an ectomorph, and natty for a ton of reasons. I'm okay with how I look but I'm 31. I really struggled with body image in my 20s but PEDs weren't so "normal" back then. If I was 10 years younger maybe I'd feel like I "had to" use them. It's entirely possible to use PEDs and not turn into a mega mass monster; basically every Hollywood hunk is on PEDs in order to achieve the idealized physique and most women love that look. As you say, most women don't think Henry Cavill is "too jacked". Equally, a lot of women have cosmetic surgery done that is competently done and subtle; a lot of men don't realize Anne Hathaway has had a lot of work done. As you say, extreme aesthetics are the result of body image issues. But I think it's true that it's usually men who influence men - and women who influence women - to pursue extreme aesthetics.

@dakupenndragon810 I'm sure CGI is used as well but it's an open secret that PED use is rampant in Hollywood. Take Christian Bale's body transformation to play Batman. He went from 120lbs for The Machinist to 190lbs for Batman Begins in six months ! Without PEDs, you can realistically gain about 1lb per week of lean muscle, best-case scenario (you've got your nutrition dialed in, you're working out efficiently, etc.). Bale could've gained 25-30lbs of lean muscle in six months natty. But he gained 70lbs! Not using PEDs would put his ability to perform the role in question; if you're not willing to do PEDs to get in shape for a role, another A-list actor is. It goes without saying Christian Bale isn't the only one doing this.

@PLUTOXGOAT Yeah I'm not sure who''s fooled by the "I'm totally natty bro trust me" spiel anymore. You can't be as massive yet lean as The Rock without being on all kinds of gear. I know some people will say "But teenagers don't know and it'll screw up their body image" but... zoomers are familiar with fitness culture and they definitely know. If young guys who are into fitness get on gear it won't be because they their favourite influencer is natty - it'll be because they know fitness e-celebs are on gear and they want the same results.

@Ironarm011 Literally every action star is on gear, yeah. Being jacked is one of the most important parts of the job and if you won't do everything you can to stay built and cut then you're risking your livelihood. Basically all Olympians are on gear, too. Yeah, there are tests. They're a joke. You just have to know how to get around them. PEDs make you a better athlete and you are paid to be the best. It's not even a choice, you just have to not get caught.
