It was very hard to return things during the 1970s then during the 1980s return policies became more liberal with the exception of small retailers in the mall or mom-and-pop retailers who would not give you your money back. by the 1990s return policies were extremely good but then those policies were exploited by people who bought something simply to use it and then return it
