  1. The Russian military has destroyed yet another American-made M1A1 SA Abrams main battle tank of Kiev forces in the Donetsk direction. The tank, which was upgraded in Ukraine with a cage armor and explosive reactive armor blocks, was targeted near the settlement of Pokrovsk to the northwest of the city of Avdeeva. It is unclear how exactly the tank was destroyed, but it is very possible that it was hit by multiple rocket-propelled rockets fired by Russian troops from a close range. Videos showing the burned out tank were posted to social networks on August 21. Ukraine received 31 Abrams from the United States over the past year. The total cost of the Abrams can vary, and can be over $10 million per a single tank when including training and sustainment. Around a half of the tanks have already been destroyed or damaged. While all the documented losses so far have been near Avdeevka, Russian media reported on August 22 that an Abrams was destroyed in Kursk. This is yet to be confirmed, however. Kiev forces have been attacking the Russian region for the last few weeks. A report by CNN from earlier this year acknowledged that the tank performed poorly in Ukraine and revealed that Kiev forces have been struggling just to keep their remaining Abrams operational. The failure of the Abrams in Ukraine was not surprising as the tank suffered serious losses in Iraq and Yemen before. However, this was without a doubt embarrassing for both the U.S. and the Kiev regime who promoted the tank as a game changing weapon.
