I remember having a debate with someone about a topic and referencing the well known principle "do what you want as long as you're not harming others". He then asked me if it's okay to watch child abuse cartoons. I was stumped because I'd have to agree, if I was to be consistent, but that wouldn't sit right with me. I think it's an interesting question though. As repulsive as something sounds, why do we care if it's not hurting other human beings? And where do we draw the line?

@quantumtwinspark283 That seems to be the common train of thought but this could be said about a lot of things that were controversial at one point or other. Drill music being the most recent big example I can think of. Violent video games being another. Even Hentai has some very questionable elements similar to this case. The lines seem blurred between okay and not okay

Kinda like AI murder and theft when you play GTA, I guess. The law makes little sense lol

@imsoreetodddid9007 Can you elaborate?

@imsoreetodddid9007 I see. Yeah agreed

It's a slippery slope tbh. Where do you draw the line? There are plenty of fictional media we consume that include heinous crimes. Do we ban those too?

It's definitely an iffy one to determine where to draw the line. I mean there are cartoons and anime that include child abuse. Though more physical than sexual. Hunter X Hunter is a show where 12 year olds get beat up by adults frequently lol. Not sure why that's still legal if we stick to the same principles

Should they ban GTA too because it involves a whole bunch of crimes?

@Kazu_Hani Makes perfect sense. If we're banning things that mimic real crimes, then why not ban GTA too?
