This is the thing people often miss. Reintroducing conscription would also turn would-be volunteers off. I might fight in an existential war to defend this soil, but if I find out the government are forcing people to do it, I'm probably backing out, as a protest. The ends do not justify the means

@Lawrence4000-s3k That statistic about social housing in London you cited is incorrect, and is also misleading. It's from an 2021 ONS study and it shows 48% of LEAD TENANTS of social housing in London are foreign born. Which is firstly, not that surprising considering the London population is 40% foreign born. But secondly, these are lead tenants. Meaning if you have a joint tenancy with your partner and kids who were all born here but you weren't - it gets recorded as a 'foreign household'. You also falsely presume being foreign born means you're forever a foreigner. I came here when I was 3. I'm not a foreigner anymore lol. I deserve just as much right as anyone else to assistance.

@Lawrence4000-s3k I just told you where it's from, the ONS Do you think non-British nationals don't pay tax or something? Because you're making very sweeping statements to suggest they aren't paying into the system. They do. Therefore, they should be just as entitled to the services they pay into as citizens are, no? Also, again do you think foreign born = non Brit? Mate, Boris Johnson was foreign born. He'd count as one of the 48% from the stats if he was in the sample. That's why it's ridiculous. Foreign born does not mean you're not a British citizen. Have you never heard of naturalisation? Idk how prevalent a foreign born lead tenant with a British born family, is in social housing but I'd bet it's not exactly rare. Lol why would you pick out one particular tower block out of the hundreds in the city, to help your case here? But since you did, let's unpack Grenfell. The tragedy that happened goes directly against this narrative that the government priorities immigrants over the native born population. The state of that building before the incident, and the criminal negligence on the repairs - does that look like special treatment to you?
