What kinda nonsense am I reading? Since when does any country have a "right" to a port? You either have one or you don't. Countries don't have rights.
2
The arrogance. Who says you deserve a coastline and a port? Tough shit for yourselves for giving up Eritrea

This is so cringe. "Look, we finally have white people" lmao But good for you 👍. I hope there's many more white people to come

@Protont Only one side is doing any conquering, and it's Somaliland
1
@Protont This argument makes no sense. The land doesn't belong to some entity that existed for 5 days and was drawn up by foreigners. It belongs to the people who live there. The people have made it clear they wish to remain with Somalia. Why do you think it's okay to deny them self determination? The same self determination you guys want for yourselves
1
@Protont I'm talking about the people in Sool and Sanaag. They want to remain with Somalia. Their wishes should be respected. Especially since Somaliland want their wishes respected by Somalia. I support the self determination of any people. If the people in Somaliland want to be independent, I support it. But only if they also respect the wishes of the aforementioned. Do you disagree?

@cheatcoddes And with that, Ethiopia has raised tensions with Egypt and Turkey. Nice move on their part

@hypotheticalaxolotl Tbh (and I try to be as unbiased as I can), the hate I see from Somalilanders is unparalleled. I'll never forget reading a several comments where they celebrated dead Somali civilians in the South after an Al Shabab attack (or it might have been a natural disaster). I have never seen the opposite where they cheer about dead Somalilander civilians. Also, I've noticed landers will drag other Somalis through the mud to outsiders any chance they get. Again, I don't see the opposite happening. Now, this is all anecdotal but I think it's pretty typical that most people can relate to perhaps. Just my two cents

Did the Slovaks bully and terrorise parts of Czechia to secede with them? Because that's what Somaliland is doing and what the video left out.
1
Bro learns history from crack addicts. Annexed? They willingly joined the Italian part to become one unified Somalia
1
@seanhartnett79 Not really. They govern themselves. They didn't take over the old government's jurisdiction
1
"No wars"...yeah I mean if you just ignore the hundreds of people they killed in Lascaanood just for refusing to be a part of their secessionist movement and stick to Somalia. Oh and the political assassinations If you ignore that, it's pretty cool
1
"No wars". Sure, if you ignore the massacre of Lascaanood where they shelled the city indiscriminately because the people refused to be a part of their secessionist movement. Oh, and the political assassinations If you forget all that, it's alright
1
@cabdiraxmanxirsi7092 Why can't they call themselves something else though? I hate having to distinguish Somali and Somalilander since they're both Somali. I get that "Somaliland" came first but still. If you want independence, you should use a completely different name imo. Same goes for Sudan and South Sudan, PRC and ROC, etc
1
It was very biased. Almost "my source was my friend from Somaliland" level bias
1
Well yes because we live in a pluralistic world where everybody needs to know who owns what land to avoid unnecessary conflicts. Not that weird at all
1
Was it peaceful when they were terrorising the people of Lascaanood to bully them into joining Somaliland's independence movement? Was it peaceful when they were doing political assassinations?
1
This is so biased, it's almost ridiculous. Firstly, props to Somaliland for the relative stability over the years but you skipped over VITAL bits of info that massively undermines their goal of independence. They annexed a region that wants nothing to do with them. You summarised it as "protests broke out" which is the understatement of the century. They've been shelling tf out of that city, killing hundreds of people just because they don't want to join their independence movement. And the reason they support Taiwan is pretty simple. Of course unrecognised states will support eachother. And you know what? I would support Somaliland's independence if thats what they want - but if they deny others self determination, then why should we grant them self determination?
1
Why one and not the other?
1
@taiwanisacountry I have a feeling it's because they are are more afraid of China than Somalia
1
@LibyDamsco You're not even Somali, what do you even know about this whole issue? Hint: it's a lot deeper than this video
