Some of us have very bad social anxiety which gets mistaken as rudeness

@dennisgoatimer1079 But they "should stop". So they're still meant to. Just not legally. Therefore not much difference in whether they deserve a thanks

@dennisgoatimer1079 I'm quoting the highway code. It doesn't say they have to stop but it does say that they "should stop". Which means they're meant to stop, but not required to. Just like I'm meant to press the button when I'm waiting to cross but I'm not required to. It'd be polite to thank them but I don't think it's a big deal not to. To get upset about that as a driver is quite laughable

Same. Just with one finger sticking up though

As per the highway code, drivers don't have to stop for pedestrians waiting on the crossing but they "should" meaning I as a pedestrian have every right to step out and cross. If you hit me, that's completely on you. And no, you won't be getting a thank you if you stop. You'll be lucky if I don't give you a screwface lol

@dennisgoatimer1079 I've quoted the Highway Code. I've also explained why drivers are meant to stop and you accuse me of conjecture...🤨 Also, we don't have 'right of way' in the UK. We have priority. But yeah I take some of it back. We should thank them.

There is a nuance people miss. Thanking drivers is neither polite nor rude. Assuming we mean places where drivers legally have to stop like zebra crossing. It's like holding the door open for someone who is quite far from you. It's polite, sure. But does that mean if you don't hold it, you're rude? No.

Not getting offended is too
