By the time I get back down there, you'll be gone, off on a new adventure. Just love how you've highlighted Guadalajara. Thank you for showing the simple life one can have in that beautiful city.   5. Fresh food markets are the way to go. Here at home (Portland, Oregon) I spend $6 on red bell peppers. SIX BUCKS!? I think that's one of many appeals of Mexico in general: Fresh fruits and vegetables at a down-home price. I love the showing of different dwellings. It's always interesting to see what you can get for how much. With that said, just not a Baja gal. Still digging the vlogs. Kudos on more subs, as well!

  6. Gentrification is a tough one. I can imagine being annoyed by an invasion, especially if one is not benefiting from it. Now, you two are kind, and respectful of others in their country. I have witnessed the opposite with American tourists. Down right just WRONG in their lack of respect. I can see where the resentment might come from. And that was my experience in Cabo: A bunch of self entitled American's behaving like Karen's and Kyle's!

  10. San Jose wasn't my cup of tea. Might I suggest Puerto Viejo - Punta Uva area. Near the tip of Panama, on the Caribbean sea. The swimming is to die for. Slower pace - wonderful for biking, and hiking. Real Rasta vibes! There's even a spa. Walaba Hostel is AMAZING! Private rooms with private restroom/outdoor shower in the jungle...yet two blocks from the beach.. 7 hour bus ride from San Jose, but worth it.

  13. I was recently denied temporary residency - because I couldn't prove where my income was coming from - and it must be $3300/per mo - and I was just shy of the $55000.00 in my savings account. I was taken aback by all of this. Mexico is my retirement dream. Next year the income requirements will be even higher. Not sure what my plan is now.

  14. I'm glad you two brought up the elephant in the room, or Mexico! Cancun is not my vibe, never was, and never will be. It's my son's scene. He doesn't go to Mexico for the culture though - he goes for the drinks and the beach. PERIOD. If I wanted to hang out with a bunch of blitzed gringos, hell, I'd go to Vegas. (Not a fan of Vegas). I was in Cancun last year around this time, only for some ocean swimming...it was more in my budget coming from Guadalajara, than Puerto Vallarta. I went downtown and I got a totally different vibe than I had in the past. Been several times, because if I want to vacay with my son, we go to Cancun. Last year people were hostile, unfriendly: Not welcoming. I'm not saying it should be canceled...but I'm not interested in ever going back. I"m a Puerto Vallarta gal 100%. Plenty of awesome beaches to choose from. Mazatlan is amazing as well, might I suggest Stone Island? Boat taxi to the island...wonderful swimming and open air restaurants!

  23. yes, the white girl in the room has something to say. My son is black and enjoys travel...but nothing out of his comfort zone. Mexico to him is Cancun and Cancun only. His girlfriend is from Thailand - but she and I both know my son would be so out of his comfort zone visiting her family and culture, he wouldn't be cool with it. Kind of sad, but I tried as a mother. My nieces and nephews on my son's side of the family - I've noticed that only the kids that went to college have traveled. I don't know why that is, but it's something that I noticed. I've also noticed with my ex sister and brother in-laws...there tends to be misguided view on travel for black people. "We don't do that, we don't go there," etc. This is only what I've seen from my family.

  27. So much has changed, and you're hitting all them. With the fast rise of inflation on EVERYTHING...and some folks still getting unemployment, workers have the upper hand. And it's about time. With that said, I'm packing up in February and buying a one way ticket to Mexico and then on to Europe. I'm vaccinated, because I knew anyone who wasn't was going to get left behind. I'm so sick of the states.

Men getting ripped off, black man m&^dered, people leaving Youtube after visiting? Just uncomfortable shyt. I find it triggering... and even tho I wouldn't use Tinder in Columbia - I still am not interested in that country.

  38. I love Mexico - spent 3 months in Mexico during the spring. I was blown over at how much everything costs. I recently applied for my temporary residency - and it's iffy at best if I get it. The requirements ($$) has sky-rocked!! It's not attainable anymore for the average US citizen. If this keeps up - Mexico's divide between the "haves and have nots" will be huge. I don't understand the "Super Peso" - and I'm not sure how it's either good or bad for the locals. But it appears to be bad for everyone involved.
