  1. 18:58 better example of how it benefits organizations to have diverse group of leaders and engineers: I'm building AI that transcribed English or facial recognition. As evidenced by reality, when white people do this they forget until months and millions of dollars later that a soap dispenser doesn't recognize black hands, or speech patterns garbled transcription because nobody in the room was black when they tested the prototype. Nobody thought to ask how it may work for everybody because the room was homogenous. The effect is more technological progress, but only for white people of society. It is very clear that a room full of white people might miss something that having a person or gender disparity would've caught without any cost if the person who gets the job is also competent (which DEIA demands they be qualified). People who want to debate this should at least read or listen to the full argument for an hour before spending several to go on camera promulgating their gut feeling on the subject.
