These ideas on changes to the rental market make sense to politicians for precisely the same reason that Donald Trump believes grocery shopping is done with an ID, and the same reason Israel believes that being the victims of state sponsored murder is a license to commit state sponsored murder - ignorance at scale. Trudeau has never had an apartment or signed a rental agreement, nor have any other privileged politicians groomed through private schools having parents who bribed post secondary for merit-less degrees then promoted by nepotism. That's not me being cynical, check Pierre Poilievre's resume. Barely 2 jobs his whole life outside of politics. Trudeau was a teacher, could he teach high school finance? Probably not, grade 10 easy math describes compound interest which he clearly doesn't grasp. Never mind present/future value, currency, or world history.
