Doesn't justify the tactic, we need to call it out and talk about it like you're doing, but this isn't a new phenomenon. This is how you manipulate groups of people. It is politics. Politics is theater and only narcissists want power for optics. We are electing the wrong people because we don't pay close enough attention. It's our fault too.
