  1. Love your work, but the "it can only have been perpetrated by a nation-state, and probably several" is extremely and recklessly presumptuous. Putin could have easily personally afforded it, same with Hezbollah and early bitcoin miners, celebrities, mineral or chemical companies, food supply chain producers like Monsanto... Any R&D company in pharma, energy, comp sci etc. Every single one of them not only had the budgets but also the qualified payrolled educated talent needed to accomplish it - and cheapest. Every country has dozens of companies and individuals that could afford it - and this assumes that "free information" fanatics don't collaborate communally, which is a huge oversight imho. You're usually a bit more on point than this.
