  1. If CPI includes food, then 25% price increase in McDonald's prices compared to 21% CPI means McDonald's prices also brought the CPI up and bringing itself down toward the mean. Since McDonald's sells all food in the CPI as an input cost they write down, they're actually also being subsidized and since they are required to use sister suppliers, money is extracted from communities to pay tax deferred dividends... Their profit margins are much wider than you're illustrating here. Franchise owners also own stock.
