  1. No theories needed here, I'm one of the ones who liked that comment. The reason is, when newbies look up simplified explanations, that's how they're described. That's why we believe dependencies should be bundled, because that's how they're taught and marketed. It's pretty reasonable imho, why can't we bundle ALL dependencies? I'd give up a Tb or more hard drive space for installed applications if I never had to build ffmpeg or fiddle with cmake compiling from github manually ever again. I think that'd be great for Linux desktop to make it an option to just sped $100 on a hard drive with the expectation of wasting space just to never have to deal with broken programs. It's not worth the hassle imho.
