@3mins - terrible critical thinking there. In 2017 there were 20,000 reported and 120,000 3 years later after gdpr. Total cases depends on many things, like omniprésence of iot, number of attacks, number of attackers, access to funding, wealth of attackers (crypto). Opportunity for attackers in prices, asset holdings, spread of technology in those years, legal precedence set and changes in government, etc etc etc. There are tons and tons of reasons a gross (not even relative) comparison of 2 data points is meaningless. It does not at all conclude anything.
Sry I'm not trolling, I'm just being clear I don't like misleading statements backed with bar charts. It irks me, true but as a fan it's a sign of respect for me to take the time to explain myself thoroughly
