Yup, the Republicans seem to have conveniently forgotten that they created the House rules in 2015 that they are crying about today. 😕

@swoopulater Your lack of knowledge about the Impeachment process is showing. There will be public hearings during the actual Impeachment. There is absolutely nothing new or unconstitutional about these closed door interviews. If the Republicans under Boehner hadn't changed the rules back in 2015 then you might have an argument. But the Republicans made these rules so they could go after Hillary on Benghazi and now they have to live with the rules they themselves put in place. Sorry, but them's the facts. It's still not even a big deal. The public hearings will still happen after this interview phase. The Republicans are putting on a show for Trump but there is no need for anyone to panic so much at this stage of the process.

@swoopulater Did you even read my comment to you? I literally explained why this is not as abnormal as you and the Republicans are claiming. I'll repeat myself one more time but if you are just going to keep spouting your talking points I won't bother responding again. In 2015 when the Republicans had control of the House under John Boehner they implemented new rules to be able to have closed door investigations into Hillary Clinton on Benghazi. Which turned up nothing apparently. Now they are pulling a press stunt and acting outraged that the rules they created are being used by the Democrats who are currently in control of the House. Talk about dishing it out and not being able to take it. Answer this for me. Did you know that 13 of the Republicans who "stormed" (more like slowly shuffled) their way into the chamber during that publicity stunt were actually on the committees who were part of the process? That means they literally went outside the chamber, joined up with Gaetz' little gang and went back into a room they already had access to? Yet you think the Democrats are the ones pulling a sham? We will probably just disagree but it is completely the other way around in this scenario.

Poor Republicans. They seem to have conveniently forgotten they made the House Rules in 2015 that they are crying about today. 😂

@John Bold There will be public hearings after the interview phase and there is absolutely nothing Unconstitutional or illegal about the way they are handling preliminary interviews and collecting evidence. You have let Trump get you all riled up over a "nothing burger." Calm down.

@John Bold I'm plenty calm. I promise no offense meant, but it's your side of the aisle going nuts over nothing right now. I agree, there was more transparency during the Nixon and Clinton Impeachments. But what the right-wing side of the media is not telling/reminding you is that the Republicans changed the House rules in 2015 so that they could go after Hillary on Benghazi (which ended up being another "nothing burger") and they are hoping everyone forgot. But not all of us have. The Republicans made this bed and now they are literally throwing a tantrum and refusing to lay in it. This is not directed at you but it was a thought I had when watching Lindsey Graham complaining about how unfairly the big strong President Donald Trump is being treated earlier. The question just popped in my bead : Why is it always the "tough guys" who play the poor innocent victim when their hypocrisy is put in their faces?

@John Bold It seems like we both see the "other side" in similar lights. Sadly that's what's wrong with the Country right now and why that innate human tendency toward tribalism has a large number of Americans treating politics like college football. I live in Central Alabama so the best analogy I can give is the people who vote straight Republican here without ever giving it a second thought think of themselves as Alabama and see the Democrats as Auburn. It's pretty sad down here because it won't change even in a few generations. The population is aging and poverty is spreading and everyone seems to think they can reach back to some idealized version of the past that never actually existed. And because that is impossible they are just trying to grind the world around them to a halt in an attempt to turn back the clock and not face the realities of the 21st Century. The only foreseeable future for my home State is stagnation. The weirdest thing to me is that just 5 years ago I considered myself a good red-blooded American Conservative. I listened to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck every single day in whatever truck or piece of heavy equipment I was in. Then I got a new job and worked in a plant on a night shift and didn't get a chance to listen to them for around a year and a half. Not long after that I got hooked on conspiracy theories on YouTube. It took me a few months to come back out of those rabbit holes and then I, for some reason I can't remember, decided to research things like logical fallacies and cognitive biases. After that I was able to realize how I got sucked into the rabbit holes and conspiracies in the first place. I also realized that being raised in church and listening to talk radio religiously had basically primed me to be gullible and wide open for the sort of wishful thinking and confirmation biases the propaganda was designed to target. Now everyone calls me a "liberal" or a "leftist" or a "demonrat" and it is still a rather odd feeling because I've never voted for a Liberal/Democrat in my life. Anyway, sorry that got so long. It takes me forever to type anything out on this phone and I had too much time to think in between pressing buttons. I hope you, me and everyone else will eventually realize that, while we are busy fighting amongst ourselves, others are going to find a way to take advantage of us as a whole. So if we, as citizens of the U.S., absolutely have to fight we need to at least learn to evaluate reality objectively and pick our battles carefully instead of the cafeteria food fight we have been having for the past 10-20 years.

@swoopulater Because the Republicans changed the rules in 2015 to make it possible. You still seem to be ignoring that part. 😉 "Waaaaaah waaaaaah" said the Republicans when the Democrats use the same rules they created. What a bunch of whiny little bitches they are when things aren't going their way. 😂
1
@peterosa3866 I guess you also forgot that the Republicans changed the House rules back in 2015 so they could go after Hillary on Benghazi huh? Now they are crying their eyes out because the rules they made are being used against them. 😂
1
@swoopulater We weren't having a debate sweetheart. I was educating you and you were ignoring it. You win the Dunning-Krueger award for this thread. Congratulations. 😉
1
@swoopulater You need a dictionary sunshine. Pointing out facts is not what indoctrinating means. 😉 Indoctrination is what appears to have been done to you by your current information sources.

@peterosa3866 TDS is term that only the people effected by it use. Nice try projecting though. Don't worry, once the committees are done selecting the witnesses and evidences they need we will all get to see the public proceedings. 😁
1
@swoopulater I've got your pattern down now. Have fun trolling, I'll make sure to get the word out.
1
@peterosa3866 And your point is irrelevant. Google the U.S. Constitution. If you ever bothered to read the thing you would find there is absolutely nothing wrong with process that is happening today. It's just sour grapes for the GOP and the people who still support Trump because they can't admit to themselves that their dear leader could ever do anything wrong. Bad troll. Bad.
1
@trishfitzpatrick2066 Fear mongering bad. There will be public hearings, there is nothing abnormal about what they are doing. The Republicans are just throwing a tantrum and attacking the process because they are losing on the facts. 😉
