The police in the UK decided about 40 years ago, to hang up their bike clips and their rain capes and instead move around in cars. So they absented themselves from the streets. Over the decades, they have learned to like policing tweets rather than the streets. The so called 'hate speech laws' have given them a fantastic opportunity to make their crime fighting rates look better. In reality only about 2% of burglaries, car thefts, assaults etc, are ever solved. If one's house is burgled and a call is made to the police, they wont bother to go out to the scene, they will simply give a crime number over the phone, for use as evidence for the insurance claim. They are constantly droning on about a shortage of resources. On the other hand, recently, the Hampshire police sent six of the stupid bastards to arrest and handcuff a 65 year old army veteran, who had forwarded a tweet which had, apparently, made a snowflake somewhere in the cosmos feel "anxiety". Another recent example of their tremendous crime fighting prowess, was the tasing of an 80 year old one legged man with dementia and was in a wheelchair.
