@pauli2169 If the UK is so xenophobic, why did over five million citizens of EU member countries register to settle in the UK? Why do so many from across the world immigrate to the UK? Are they crazy, reckless or simple minded? Being a member of the EU is about much more than money, it was never meant to be like that and that is why so many across Europe feel uneasy about it. Don't forget, UK citizens were sneaked into the Common Market, by Ted Heath, without a chance to vote on it. During the campaign for the first referendum in 1975, Harold Wilson forbade his Ministers from pointing out that the CM was a political as well as a trading project. Then we were told we would have a referendum on Maastricht, that didn't happen. Do you accuse Tony Benn, Jeremy Corbynski, Dennis Skinner, Barbara Castle and Peter Shore of being xenophobic? They were all opposed to the UK joining the Common Market and even more opposed to the EU. In the 1970s, there were many unions which opposed it too. Were they also xenophobic? Only a middle class, professional, metropolitan luvvy thinks that there are 17.4 million xenophobes in the UK. If you want to experience xenophobia, try living in Africa or Asia! In international surveys about racist attitudes, India always comes top. The UK does not even appear in the top twenty. If my facts are fantasies, why is UK unemployment at its lowest for 60 years, even with an additional 5 milion people. Why is Sterling doing so well against the USD, while the Euro is still at parity with the USD? If the EU is so wonderful, why is Germany going into recession?
