I have always believed and practised, that people should think what they like and say what they think. The only modifier is common courtesy.

@--6394 No, it is courtesy. I have no objection to anyone using the 'n' word, but I would not use it in company which would feel antagonistic towards it. No speech should be banned, we should rely on common decency, which the vast majority of people understand. There is no law that passengers waiting to board a train should allow passengers to alight first, but it is decent to do so. Ditto holding a door open, or giving up one's seat on a bus for an elderly person, a child, or a pregnant woman. The law should not deal with such matters.
