  1. The British have no need whatever to feel guilty for something which happened centuries ago. In fact, it would be ridiculous to do so. Surely we do not expect Germans to feel guilty for what the Nazis did, before they were born, or the Chinese for the more recent 60,000,000 early deaths during Chairman Mao's regime.
