  3. In 1985, I bought an electric coffee grinder, in a market in Saigon. It was manufactured in the USSR. That was the first and last item I bought that originated in the USSR. It still works perfectly. Russia has given us the Periodic Table, great literature, music, ballet. It has also given us great examples in how destructive dictatorship is.

  10. Because the economy is not diversified. Foreign investors will not invest, because there is no rule of law. Only 32 Nobel Laureates have been awarded to Russia/Soviet Union. In the last few years, two Russian born scientists were awarded Nobel Laureates for their research in Manchester University, after they left Russia to become citizens of and to work in the UK. They developed Graphene. I imagine that Russia has many more such losses.

Propaganda is not really necessary, because they have lived it, along with several other Eastern European countries. I don't see a queue of countries eager to join the Russian Federation, unlike the Commonwealth.

  48. Fascinating and confusing. Tens of thousands Chinese nationals are crossing into the US illegally, each year. Not a single US citizen is crossing the Chinese border illegally. On top of that, it was Stalin who signed a non-aggression pact with Hitler not the USA. After the USA, the UK and the USSR formed an alliance against the Nazis, it was the USA, Canada and the UK who shipped millions of tons of armaments and food, across the Baltic to the USSR. Thousands of allied sailors lost their lives supplying the USSR in this way.
