@Craig121000 The year is irrelevant. Common sense does not change.

@Craig121000 No it has not changed. Years ago people knew it was not necessary to heat the whole house, it is still not necessary today. Years ago, most people did not heat their bedrooms, for most people it is not necessary to heat bedrooms today. Years ago, when winter came, people wiuld wear winter clothes, they can still wear them today. People seem to prefer whining and screeching rather than adapting and getting on with things. What has changed, is that people have handed over responsibility for their lives to others, primarily the government. It is truly pathetic.

@triodehexode We all lived through that and managed perfectly well. Coal was and still should be, a strategically important asset and a huge 300 year long source of energy. That was not nannying, the government, ie the public, owned the coal fields. Sadly the miners made mining British coal too expensive for the market. It was cheaper to buy it from Indian and Polish miners.

James is right on this occasion. People are far too soft. Central heating is not essential, we can live without it.

@triodehexode Is the public so stupid that they don't know already?

@triodehexode Wartime precautions and restrictions of freedom are peculiar to wartime, which only happens once or twice a century. Winter comes every year, for god's sake!

@baybarsedturner2 Except for time they go to Spain for a month or two every year.

@triodehexode We all need to take responsibility and not sit wimpering until someone feels sorry for us. Government money is all tax money, it is ridiculous to believe it is free money.

@baybarsedturner2 We did manage very well, I was there. Never heard of anybody suffering, nobody panicked, nobody died.

@baybarsedturner2 People do geralise about the elderly and how they tolerate both hot a cold. Many older people spend time in hotter climes, both because they like the heat and to save on fuel bills. Some elederly are well acquainted with managing the cold. Central heating in homes us a very recent thing. Many have grown up in cold houses, heating just one room. Something that Greater Thunderbird would support, I am sure.

@triodehexode Draught excluders at the bottom of doors, hot water bottles instead of a heated bedroom, heavy curtains over the exterior doors.
