  1. The idea is to capture fringe demographics in order to deliver them to the ultimate candidate. Beto captures a fringe group, many of whom wouldn't consider voting for any of the other choices, gets them enthusiastic (enough to actually vote?), then delivers them as a bloc to whoever ends up being the candidate. It's an attractive notion, but does it actually work that way? I don't buy it.
