Seems Styx has come around to my long-propounded position: corruption contributes the "slop" REQUIRED for the system machinery to function. Think "engine tolerances": too tight, the machinery seizes; too loose, the system performs poorly and wears itself out through excessive vibration. You NEED the right amount of slop in the system for it to perform acceptably well. The problem is in managing the slop...efficiently...
